Our team in Malawi is made up of all local people from the Domasi district. We have three managers that between them organise and maintain our projects on the ground.
Our UK based team all work for Community Highlight on a voluntary basis - helping to promote the work of our organisation, fundraise for our projects and communicate with supporters so they know exactly where their money is going.
Anderson has been helping his community for years, always looking for different ways to assist his community and taking part in any training courses that come his way. He has great knowledge in agriculture and has put it to good use by sharing all his knowledge with people who struggle with their gardens/farms.
He has also worked for many years with people living with HIV and works with them to spread awareness throughout the area and assists them in living in as happy and healthy lives as possible.
Anderson is in charge of all our sponsored children, he collects school reports, pays school fees, and checks on the needs of all the sponsored children as well as sourcing and purchasing all their needs for schooling.
He is also in charge of the general running of the project, he is in charge of wages, the behaviours of all staff and overseeing the smooth running of the schools, support group and sponsored children. To assist him is this mammoth task we have two assistant managers with their own areas of focus.
Patuma is a kind and loving woman who for many years has been helping children in her village and the surrounding area. Patuma has two children of her own and when her brother passed away she took in her nephew Vincent and has raised him since he was a baby. Along with the help of her grandparents she takes care of several orphans from her village and is a pillar of the community.
Patuma has previous experience of teaching but has now moved on to become a member of management where she now focuses on assisting local needy families. She will do this by monitoring the needs of the families and looking into ways to help long term. She will also keep records of who is in most need of help and logs of the support they receive. Patuma will work closely with Nsangeni support group ensuring that we can reach the community with Awareness all year round and that all the members of the group are working well together and establishing any needs they may have. She still loves to teach so often gets stuck in helping to plan the school’s curriculum.
Michael was previously a teacher at Hayo School, he was so gifted at working with the children, focusing their attention and encouraging them to get involved and join school that we felt the need to share his skills with the other schools. That’s why Michael is now in charge of the running of our schools where he is responsible for planning the curriculum and monitoring the teacher’s implementation of the curriculum whilst offering them advice on how to improve
As well as this Michael will be monitoring the schools feeding program, ensuring each school has what it needs to run the feeding program efficiently and that everyday all our learnes receive a bowl of porridge.
